Babuji's teachings and principles

Preachings of Babuji

There are times when human history stands under the crisis of judgement. The more profoundly we become aware of the limited nature of possibilities of life on earth, the farther away we are from God, our desertion of Him is more complete and the consequences of that desertion more vast than we had ever imagined. It is perhaps to combat this hopelessness, that mediators were anointed to act as a bridge between Divinity and humanity. We at Ramashram Satsang believe that God still speaks to humankind, that he has called new Brahma Purush (apostles) and that revelation of the Divine word still flows today as it did anciently.

All saints whom God sends for the work of spirituality or parmarth have laid down formative principles regarding their life, their living style, their way of worship etc. Babuji’s teachings were directly derived from his revered Gurudev, Param Pujya Lalaji Maharaj which he strictly adhered to and propagated throughout his life. He taught that “faith” directs itself towards invisible realities. Only that which is hidden can provide an opportunity for faith. The only pre-condition of Sant Mat is for its followers to become “unconditionally turned inward”.

Parmarth is basically based on four things :-

Shariat (way of living)
Tarikat (way of worship)
Marfat (source of his knowledge, Guru)
Hakeekat (the only reality GOD and its realisation)

Shariat : The way of living which is inevitably shaped by the society and environment to which one belongs. This is pre-conditioned by birth.
Tarikat : It is the way an individual worships. This also differs from person to person, although the ultimate aim is the same.
Marfat : The source from wherein one receives enlightenment, ones Guru
Hakeekat : God is one. He is supreme and it is the only universal truth for all mankind.

Shariat at the Ramashram :- One should follow the ideal :- Do Good to ALL. Six virtues are necessary for satsangis :-

  1. Daan (Charity)
  2. Daya (Kindness to ALL)
  3. Deenta (Humbleness)
  4. Chhama (Forgiveness)
  5. Sacchaii (Truthfulness)
  6. Prem (Love)

Six things should be avoided by all satsangis :-

  1. Kaam (Sex & Desire)
  2. Krodh (Anger)
  3. Lobh (Greed)
  4. Moh (Attachment)
  5. Irshya (Jealousy)
  6. Ahankar (Proud)

The satsangis should be simple in habit and should fulfill all their wordly duties in true sense

Tarikat at the Ramashram

Param Pujya Babuji repeatedly stressed that there should be a living Guru who can guide you during your abshyaas (practice). The revered Gurus who have passed away can bestow their Aashirwad (blessings) in the satsangi’s journey but the real guidance is provided by a living guide, your present Guru.

Param Pujya Babuji elucidated on three moolmantras :-

Jap – This is the first step in Abhyaas. Bhajan, prayer and mantras all form a part of Jap. Jap in which the tongue, the mann (heart) and the Chitta are moved by the same spirit. Jap is also necessary to keep one’s mann constantly drawn in.

SumiranSumiran is in effect the constant remembrance of one’s Guru. This is the easiest way for one to get finayat in one’s Guru leading to salvation. Only those can attain sumiran in true sense who have had the gracious association of one’s Guru.

Dhyaan Dhyan signifies meditation. Meditation is the gist of (Pooja) worship. In this stage one recieves the Anubhav (experience) of spiritual attainment. The practice of dhyan should be directed in such a way that there are no distractions of any worldly thought except the thought of one’s Guru.

Marfat at Ramashram: Our AdiGuru is Param Pujya Lalaji Maharaj. Param Pujya babuji is the guiding light in our path of sadhna.

Hakeekat at the Ramashram: Hakeekat signifies the absolute truth for all and sundry. All worship should be directed to the One God and that God is omnipresent and Almighty. The way of worship might differ. But true realization of his dynasty is hakeekat. He is the only real Master, eternal, indestructible and indefatigable while the rest of the universe will perish one day. This stage of belief can only be achieved under the guidance of a living guru and not from the knowledge of books.

Four Pillars of Sant mat: The way to salvation :-

  1. Sanskar
  2. Sadguru
  3. Satnam
  4. Satsang

Sanskar: Thoughts make the mind and the mind entails the continuous flow of thoughts. Thoughts are multifarious and fragmented and they direct the action of man, through desire, anger etc. Human thoughts can be pious & pure or vicious and evil. These thoughts and actions make our sanskar and they guide and instruct the birth of man. Those who have the sanskar of bhakti, prem are born with those sanskars and can attain enlightenment. Such men are the chosen ones, the ones entrusted for Parmarth work.

Sadguru: Sadguru are the saints who have attained enlightenment of Sachkhand. They come to enlighten other ailing men and guide other people onwards their path to salvation. One cannot attain salvation without Sadguru. He acts as a living torch to the abhyasis.

Satnam: Satnam is the name which is given to the disciple by their Sadguru at the time of Diksha. Satnam is pivotal in the sense that it makes the abhyasis aware of the pitfalls of Maya and helps him in his personal battles against wrongdoing.

Satsang: Satsang is essential for abhyasis because only through satsang one can experience the immense and manifold experiences of spirituality. Satsang induces stability and calmness of the senses. Satsang literally signifies the sang of one’s guru. He bestows his supreme love on his disciples in satsang. Goswami Tulsidas has said in Ramcharitmanas

Binu Satsang vivek na hoi, Ram kripa binu sulabh na soi

It means without satsang one cannot be righteous and satsang is the mercy and blessing of God. One cannot achieve satsang without God’s wishes. Satsang is the eternal school of spirituality whereas sadguru is the guide of Adhyatma. When sanskar arises one meets his Sadguru, when sadguru blesses with satnam and satsang one can attain salvation.
