The Successors of Param Pujya Babuji Maharaj

It is a practice in the Sant Mat that when a Saint or guru realizes that he has completed his destined work and now it is the time to declare his Successor for the continuing work of Satsang, he gives a written Izzazat to those whom he considers that they can handle the responsibilities of the Satsang and possess an ideal character. It is the principle of Sant Mat that the great gracious living Guru declares his successor and also gives them writing.

Param Pujya Babuji Maharaj, the great Saint of his time also made his pious declaration in writing on 13th February 1972 on Sunday in his Register but he declared his successor in 1981 when he was very unwell. He called his younger son Sri G. K.Saxena “Babbu” and a loving disciple Sri Jagdish Prasad Gupta of Hapur and through a tape he made the announcement and afterwards he himself announced the same in presence of entire Satsangis during the annual bhandara at Ghaziabad . The atmosphere was so charged that all members of family as well as Satsang were full of tears and the experienced that their heart will break and a deep silence prevailed for an hour or two. It seemed that there is no life left in all.

THE PIOUS ANNOUNCEMENT :-

Place : Ghaziabad
Day : Sunday
Time : 9 a.m.
Date : 18th October 1981

“Ghaziabad 18th October 1981, you all are full of adbhut (strange) love, and thoughtlessness. May God give love boundless so that the path of parmarth may become easier to you all.

Today, I declare my two elder sons, Dr. R.K.Saxena and Dr. V.K.Saxena as my Successors. I appoint them Head of the Satsang. They will take care of their mother and five younger brothers and of all of you, and with their help will manage and arrange the Bhandara activities. They (Dr. R.K.Saxena, Dr. V.K.Saxena) will be the president or head of the Satsang. They will manage the Satsang but will take help from others.

There are some Satsangi brothers whom I have given Talim Izzazat (order to teach) they are doing their work. May God help them. I have asked these two brothers to spare five ten days and help those Satsangi Bhai’s in their work at their respective places. The main places are Varanasi , Aurihar, Ballia, Samastipur ,Ujiarpur, Patna and Gaya . I have asked both brothers to help them as much as they can. There are some whose izzazat I could not write I will write them & will send them through letter. Try your level best to keep the sanctity and beauty of the Satsang. The beauty and sanctity of this Satsang will remain, because I have never encouraged wrong persons.

As far as Fatehgarh is concerned, it is our root. It is our dharm(duty) to visit that holy place whenever we get a chance to visit . We should pay full respect to this darbar (holy place). His grandson Sri Dinesh Babu is there. We should not give any chance to hurt him at any cost. Whatever help we can do to him we must do, but be aware that we have nothing to do with the politics of that place. No one of my satsang, nor my sons are allowed to participate in politics of that place. They can better do the arrangement of that place we have no concern of the good or bad things of that place. We have nothing to do there except pay full respect. As far as this Vidya (Parmarthik knowledge) is concerned Vidya Dan is the highest Dan but it should be good in nature. Our Gurudev blessed us with this Vidya very generously.

I can only say that thus Vidya is very rare in our society, more or less nowhere found. This society of ours is a very alive and alert society. The real jigyasu (one who is in search of spirituality) of our society who has devoted only two or four months in our satsang is far superior of a jigyasu of other place who has devoted 50 years there.

Where the places are mentioned Gorakhpur is left, please add this also in that list. If any other place is left I will mention it later.

It is very much requested to all premi brothers to devote these four days (days of Bhandara) only in the thought of God and discuss about God. Do not waste your time in rubbish things. Keep these four days of the year only & only for Parmarth, may God bless all. It is my request that all satsangi Bhai who have come here may go filled with love; when ever they may get time write me your welfare. It is now enough for today.

Dr. Shyam lal Saxena -- 18th October 1981

Param Pujya Babuji Maharaj appointed his successor of Satsang as his two elder sons late Dr. R.K.Saxena and Dr. V.K.Saxena. They are the head and are honored by Izzazat Taamma (full authority). Those who are given this type of Izzazat can appoint their successor onward for the work of Satsang. The great Guru (who appoints his successor), by his gracious power transfers his spiritual power, to his successor, by transcending the enternal bliss of his Gurudev, the Dada Guru (Param Pujya Lalaji Maharaj). It is clear to us from the previous discussion that the altitude of surrender and dedication and a true love (love which does not want any reward) in action and a purified mind is very much needed for the successors in whom the Guru Sees the future of Satsang.

Param Pujya Babuji Maharaj bestowed Izzazat of Bait (giving izzazat for diksha) to :-

  1. Thakur Shiv Naresh Singh :- He belonged to district Balia in U.P. He was a very obedient and courageous man and very much dedicated to the noble cause. He did a lot of work of Param Pujya Babuji Maharaj .All Persons of Eastern district Varanasi, Gaorakpur, Ballia, Bihar who joined the Satsang came from his efforts at that time. Param Pujya Babuji always praised him in all means and so Param Pujya Tauji saying him “poorab ka Sher” (the lion of Eastern side). He did untiring service of Satsang to his last breath. May God bless his soul wherever it may be.
  2. Sri Abbul Rahim Ansari :- He belonged to Bhadoi , a place near to Varanasi . He also did a lot of work in his sphere. The greatest tribute goes to him that being Muslim, he joined this Satsang. Now he is too old to travel or go anywhere being old he is unwell also, but still he is in full remembrance of Param Pujya Babuji. May God help him in his battles of life. Satsangi Bhai call him Chacha.
  5. Sri Ram Narain Lal Srivastava :- He also belonged to Distt. Ballia but spent his more life time at Varanasi . He retired from Railway services and now settled at Sarnath Varanasi. Param Pujya Babuji loved him as a father loves his tiny child. He also possess a deep love, a great respect for Babuji. Param Pujya Babuji gave him Izzazat of Talim and bait to him (Diksha and teaching). May God help him in this noble work.
  6. Late Sri Nand ji Singh :- Param Pujya Babuji gave both Izzazat of Talim and Diksha to Sri Nandji Singh. Till his last breath he remembered his Guru Param Pujya Babuji and did work for him. Satsang was arranged in his Railway Quarter L/27 Varanasi for so many years when the number was less. May God bestow his blessings to his soul.

These persons can hold Satsang. They can teach and preach others. They can initiate (Diksha) people but they can not appoint their successor for future.

There are many persons who were initiated by Param Pujya Tauji Maharaj (Dr. Sri Krishna Lal Bhatnagar) but they united with Param Pujya Babuji and Talim (Teaching ) was given by him and completed by him to them. Param Pujya Babuji also gave different type of Izzzat to following persons.
  7. Late Sri Babu Ram ji :- He was younger brother of Param Pujya Babuji and was very much loved by Param Pujya Babuji. He breathed his last in Ghaziabad at 7 Ram krishna Colony in front of Param Pujya Babuji . Param Pujya Babuji always appreciated him, he was also a very courageous and bold man who was fully dedicated to his elder brother. May God bless his soul.
  8. Late Sri Ganga Deen Saxena :- He was the youngest brother of Param Pujya Babuji a very loving brother . He was just like his own son. Sri Ganga din Saxena lived with Param Pujya Babuji till he was shifted during his Government Service . He was a very loving and a man of right thinking. He was also initiated by Param Pujya Tauji Maharaj Dr. Srikrishana Lal Bhatnagaer. He is at present doing the work of satsang of Sikandarabad , Roorkee and other places. Param Pujya Babuji also extended his help and Ashirbad to him for the right cause.
  10. Sri Dinesh Kumar Saxena :- Sri Dinesh Kumar Saxena is grand son of Param Pujya Lala ji Maharaj and son of late sri Jagmohan Narain of Fatehgarh .His father died at an very early age . They were two brothers. Sri Akhlesh Kumar Saxena also died at a very early age. Param Pujya Babuji initiated him and also granted him Izzazat Bait (Izzazat to initiate others). Param Pujya Babuji awaked him telling that “you are a grand son of such an extra ordinary born saint you have only to remember your great origin. If you succeed in finding the greatness of your origin and happiness in your soul then even though you are surrounded in worldly affairs you will always be able to carry with you the priceless treasure of your great father and grandfather. Do not waste these few and precious years of your life”. Param Pujya Babuji expected him to do the work of Param Pujya Lala ji Maharaj at Samadhi Fatehgarh.

Param Pujya Babuji Maharaj in his lifetime gave Izzazat of Talime (Izzazat of Teaching) to 19 persons as mentioned in his register on 22.1.86 and Izzazat of Satsang to 15 persons including his two sons Sri G.K.Saxena (Babbu), Sri N.K.Saxena. In all, Babuji Maharaj gave diksha to 452 persons, as per his register records, and there are 50 more persons from Bijnaur, whose details are not recorded in his register. He thus distributed the work of Satsang so that local Satsang may be strengthened. By these grace of Almighty and Ashirbad of Buzargan silsila (Saint of Sant Mat) the Satsang work flourishing abiding his strong principles.

Do not think that you are master, you are a humble servant and the work of service is your duty towards your Guru and mankind.

Do not promise any one that you will show God in a specified time and duration. Because you are not master, this depends on ones previous sanskar, present dedication and moreover on God’s and Gurudev’s bless. Respect all saints by all means just like your own Guru.

Be very honest in all your dealings in action, in words and never try to hurt any one. Param Pujya Babuji firmly said so many times during satsang to Be Good And Do Good, if you can not do good to others, at least do not do any work against Dharm Shastra which may bring bad name to our saints (Guru’s) because if you have joined the satsang your action reflects the image of satsang. Right action , Right thinking , Right behavior and disciplined life is essential for satsang as Param Pujya Lala Ji has said “ We make a perfect man” ( Hum Mukamel Insan Banate Hai) perfection in action, thought and duties are the main basis for satsang.

Param Pujya Babuji taught us by his own example of life that there are no obstacles there are only opportunities which God gives us. His life was full of miseries. (Details of his life “ Anmol Sant Charitra” written by Dr. V.K.Saxena) yet he never forget to full fill his duties towards his parents , brother , sisters his village , the cities wherever he lived towards his children, and firmly and strictly of his Guru Param Pujya Lalaji Maharaj in totality. He always respected all coming from their family. As his Guru was initiated and perfected by a great muslim saint without any distinction of caste creed, religion as in those days people were very strict in religion. Society at that time did not permit Hindus to eat and mingle with Muslim. Param Pujya Babuji also fully believed in it and he also initiated three muslim persons, and gave Izzazat to Sri Abdul Rahim Ansari with out any distinction, as his Gurdev believed that spirituality, is above all religion. It is a way of life an inner urge, an inner experience which has nothing to do with outwardly appearance, cast creed , rich , poor , religion . Spirituality is the moment of inner truth , immortality , an expression of soul consciousness , inner power and perfection of spiritual bless by God , which is the greatest treasure of once life. Spirituality is nothing to do with wisdom or intellectuality because the sphere of intellect is “Buddhi” (the brain) it is seen that intelligent people are always betrayed by them own thoughts and leave the right path. Param Pujya Babuji said Intelligence Should not be confused with parmarth there are many highly intelligent fools in the world who use their intellects to justify their ends and for debates but they do not use their wisdom to eliminate their delusion , they do not soften their heart for spiritual realism , such people being intelligent , rich , having position power can not dare to come to the path of parmarth . Param Pujya Babuji always warned his sons not to waste time with such persons but also warned that pray for them as they have no right to discard any one (any creature of God’s earth ) who knows the future and one should always remember that God who made us all must surely also loves us.

Param Pujya Babuji always insisted in simple living as his Guru insisted. He always taught us and warned us not to run madly to acquire objects finance. One can not get the desired happiness through worldly objects. As the real and eternal happiness in the soul and till we realise our own self we can not remain happy.

Param Pujya Lalaji Maharaj said once and very clearly that “I and Nannhey ( Param Pujya Chacha ji Maharaj ) are the same , two sides of one coin”. He meant that there is no difference in Him and Chachaji Maharaj. None of the disciple as for as known followed his meaning . Param Pujya Babuji respected Param Pujya Chacha ji Maharaj in the same way as he respected Param Pujya Lalaji Maharaj obeyed the instruction, orders, advises of his revered Guru in totality and thus he was very much blessed all through his life , which was full of ups and down .But any odd never shook his firm belief in his Guru Param Pujya Lala ji Maharaj. Having these beautiful qualities of life, he was loved by his Guru as well as Param Pujya Chachaji Maharaj alike.

The natural simplicity in his nature and the qualities of natural humbleness made Param Pujya Babuji a very loving person. All people of that time his all Guru Bhai and family members of Param Pujya Lalaji , Param Pujya Chacha ji , Param Pujya Babu Brij Mohan Lal ji ,Param Pujya Jagmohan Narain ji , Param Pujya Jijji ( wife of Param Pujya Lalaji Maharaj ) Param Pujya Dr. Chaturbhuj Sahaiji and the most loved one was Dr. SriKrishan Lal Bhatnager . He has recognized Param Pujya Babuji as a gem of the time . He said ( Chirag le kar Dhoodne per bhi Dr. Shyam Lal ji ki tarah Dunia me Koi Nahi Milega ) “There is none like Dr. Shyam Lal in this world even though we search for such a person with lamp in our hand ” all the Godly characters described above were personified in the character of Param Pujya Babuji . He was the youngest of all his Guru Bhai’s of that time. He cared and respected all and all loved him honestly.
